Birthday Thoughts

What’s a more appropriate outfit than my birthday suit? 😁

Hello hello! It’s starting to feel like summer in earnest in NYC, and I hope you’re enjoying the sunshine. Everything is bursting into bloom, people are stepping out and showing skin, and I for one am ecstatic. As a summer baby, this is the time I feel most alive. In my opinion, July is the most wonderful time of the year: my birthday month!

As you might have guessed, my birthday is very important to me. I love being celebrated, and I’ve accomplished some things worth feting in this past year, like knocking out my first year of grad school. It’s important to take the time out of our everyday routines to mark life’s milestones. Plus, I love the attention--I admit it!

I didn’t always feel so zealous about birthdays though. Growing up, celebrating birthdays wasn’t a big tradition in my household. But now as an adult, I’ve grown to absolutely love them. I think they’re a wonderful opportunity to celebrate someone and make them feel special.

Remembering someone’s special day with flowers or a bottle, taking them out on the town, drinking to their accomplishments--yes I melt when people celebrate me, and I’m also thrilled to do the same when their bday comes around. Birthdays can be fraught for a lot of people, which is why I love celebrating with clients and making them feel special.

On my actual birthday on July 3, I typically take a hike by myself somewhere surrounded by beautiful nature. I meditate for awhile, and reflect on the ways I’ve grown throughout the year. Afterwards I also like to treat myself to my favorite Billecart-Salmon brut champagne (I really want to try this one though!) and caviar (Ossetra, of course). How do you prefer to spend your birthday?

Otherwise, for me the most important way to celebrate is by spending time with people! While it’s been fantastic to visit some of my favorite NYC spots again, I’m really excited to travel around the Northeast.

This year, I really want to try Eleven Madison Park or Rosella with someone in NYC, and I’m up for oysters anywhere. Of course, that doesn’t mean I don’t love presents. If you want to spoil me, you can find my wish list here. I’ve also been eyeing a MasterClass subscription, and I’ve always dreamed of taking a helicopter tour over Manhattan.

What would you like to do together? 💋

XO Maya
